All Inventoried Roadless Area Assessments will be available on OUR IMPACT-Habitat page as they are completed.
Helena Hunters and Anglers Association (HHAA) implemented a monitoring program in 2022 designed to assess the status and trends in condition of Inventoried Roadless Areas (IRAs) on the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest (HLCNF). Monitoring focus was on boundary condition, hydrology, wildlife, vegetation, human use and violations, and other observations.
The LAZYMAN-BLACK MTN INVENTORIED ROADLESS AREA ASSESSMENT is the most recent to be completed. It is also the most detailed, involving the main report and five Subunit reports.
In addition to the Lazyman-Black Mountain IRA Report, which was completed in 2026, the Nevada Mountain IRA Report was completed in 2024; the Jericho Mountain IRA Report is being drafted; and field work on the Electric Peak IRA begins in 2026. Twenty-two IRAs occur on the Helena portion of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, and HHAA intends to inventory most if not all of them.
Thank you to the Cinnabar Foundation for their continuing support. See our most recent grant report to Cinnabar describing accomplishments.
